Marble is primarily used for decorative purposes, most commonly in the form of tiles and slabs.
In recent years, particularly over the past fifteen, quarry operators have increasingly repurposed waste and discarded stone from marble mines due to its high calcium carbonate purity. These materials are crushed and processed into micronized calcium carbonate powder, which is used in a wide range of industrial applications.
Smaller stones, which are unsuitable for cutting into blocks or slabs in stone-cutting factories, are also efficiently reused. They are transformed into landscaping materials such as crushed and granulated stone, polished river pebbles for beautifying parks and gardens, architectural elements like balustrades for facades and protective structures, and stone cubes of various sizes.
